Henry's first haircut

I have been fighting for Henry to not get his hair cut. I wanted to just grow it out and let it get nice and long. Because I think long hair is adorable, especially on babies. Josh has been pestering me for months to just cut it. I finally gave in today, based on some info from a trusted source that it would grow in better if we cut it. It was getting a little brillo-pad-ish in the back ;) haha. So Josh and I captured him in the bathroom and got to work.

"um dad, what is happening?!"
a lot of it looked like this...escaaaape!!

ta daaaaaa!!!
now he looks all growned up!
chillin with my cute little baby toddler (?!)
i love this little man!!
This little nugget is growing up so fast, and I can hardly even believe it! I was a little sad to cut his hair, but Josh just said I was being a silly mom. Which is true I suppose... Henry looks adorable with his new 'do. But he always looks cute, so what can I say? Now if we can just get rid of his cold, all will be well with the world :)

we went to ohio

And visited our best friends, which are Henry's honorary aunt and uncle. It was Henry's first airplane trip(s), and I was so nervous I thought I might lose my mind. Thankfully Henry was amazing and did not cry for the entire flight, like I thought he might. During the first flight out there he was extremely tired, but super excited to look around at all the new surroundings/things/people. Which means he did not want to sleep, eventually got super cranky, and was whiny and crying. About an hour into the flight he started full out crying (which lasted maybe 2 minutes long but felt like 20 minutes) and I was basically freaking out and thinking everyone was ready to throw us off the plane. We made him a bottle and he fell asleep almost immediately. Halllllelujah! He slept for the entire rest of the flight and woke up right around the time we were landing. Our layover consisted of us booking it to our next flight (the first one had been delayed) and then we boarded. Henry was awake and happy, and we just played for the flight, which thankfully was short.

Ohio was so much fun, and even though me and Henry became a little sick, it was still amazing. We did lots of fun things, which I will describe in pictures (some stolen by Emily, and all definitely out of chronological order):

Henry crawled in and tried to take a shower.

He met his girlfriend Claire (some old friends who also live in Ohio have a cute 9 mo old).

Henry spent lots of quality time with his cousin Finn. Mostly trying to break out of gates...

"Let us out!!"

They also really enjoyed each other's toys. A lot.

There was a lot of sharing. And stealing. And some tug-of-wars.

And kisses...

And general harassment.

Henry discovered you can unroll toilet paper and make a delightful mess.

He tried to beg Aunt Emily for food.

He starred in a low budget Pampers commercial.

He played Heart and Soul with Aunty Em.

He enjoyed lots of food.

And even took a tubby!

Most of all he loved up Aunty Em and Uncle Dave.
We all had a fabulous time, but Henry definitely loved being in a new place and discovering new things. He made lots of new friends, and fell in love with Aunty Em. I would catch him just looking over at her and smiling. Adorable! We were all very sad to leave.

During the flight home I decided that I didn't want to take any chances... Henry was kind of sick and cranky, and I didn't want him to be miserable. I called my pediatrician to check the dosage, and hooked him up with some benedryl. Best decision ever. He slept the whole first flight, and woke up after we landed. He played and ate during the layover, and then slept for the entire last flight. It was pretty amazing.

Overall, flying was actually a success, which was a huge relief! The trip was fabulous, and we definitely want to go back sometime soon. Maybe next summer? :)

pumpkin patch

I have been wanting to take Henry to a pumpkin patch, so on Saturday we went with my girls Darci and Mona to HeeHaw Farms. Besides the establishment being a little bit ghetto, we still managed to have a really fun time. They have a little petting zoo that we went to first, and Mona was adorable being all nervous/excited to pet the animals. Henry was entertained just looking around. He seemed like he wanted to touch some of the animals (he's an animal lover), but when I would put him close so he could pet them he would hesitate and change his mind. Granted, it was the first time he's ever seen any animals like this before (goats, baby cows, pigs, etc), so he was probably a little intimidated/confused.

Henny loves looking around at new people/places

First swing ride!

funny faces. Henry wondering why I keep telling him "no" when he tries to eat grass, and Mona wondering why it's stinky at this place. haha :)

our two cuties
We had a really fun time, even though the hayride out to the pumpkin patch entailed sitting on a bed of hay...and leaning against the sides of a trailer that sounded/felt like they were about to break at any moment. That was really fun, considering Darci is super pregnant and was mentally preparing herself to go into labor. Meanwhile I had little Henry in my lap, trying to get away and crawl through the hay and right off the trailer. So...good times ;) We did end up with a cute pumpkin, some cute pictures, and a really fun memory! Thanks for going with us girls!

10 months old

Today Henry turned ten months old. He is such a big boy! He has grown so much in the past month. He went from being able to stand up by himself to being able to walk around while holding furniture.

He can open cupboards, and loves to open/close any doors or cabinets over and over. It's actually quite adorable. He especially loves the laundry area, because he can watch clothes swish around, and open and close doors at the same time. It's like heaven for him.

He now has two bottom teeth, like a cute little hillbilly. I love it. He also really enjoys walking all over when you hold his hands. He gets so proud of himself that he's walking around everywhere. Also, he can say "hi", "mama", and "dada" and actually say them with proper meaning sometimes. This morning when he was eating all of a sudden he stopped, looked up at me, said "hi", smiled, and then went back to eating. It was so adorable my heart just melted.

I love this little boy so much, and he is so much fun to have around. Lately whenever I exercise, Henry "helps" me out. He'll roll around the free weights if they're on the floor (he's buff!), he'll shake my blender bottle, and crawl all up on me and lay next to me and hold his legs up in the air. One of these days I'll have to have Josh record it, because it is a riot.

Happy 10 months Henry!!
