My friend Brittany runs the Etsy shop Brittybird. She makes adorable outfits and accessories for babies and toddlers. She had some new sets for twins, and I volunteered Henry and Amelia (our friends' baby) as models. They both were a little out of their element and not as smiley as usual, but they were still so cute!!

first tooth

If you look SUPER close at this picture (click on it to make it bigger), you might be able to see Henry's little tooth poking through. On Friday I noticed that this bottom tooth had made its appearance! It was so funny, I didn't even think that he was currently teething, and I when I first noticed the tooth I thought that maybe I was just seeing some sort of saliva reflection haha. Besides the fact that he had woken up the previous night around 1am, screaming, he hasn't really been acting that different/grumpy lately during the day. So hopefully that trend continues (minus the 1am screaming...)!

On Thursday after I got home from work, I was sitting on the kitchen floor with Henry while he was playing. He crawled over and climbed up into my lap until he was cuddling up next to me. It was so sweet! So I tried to take a picture with my iPod, and Henry took notice. So this happened:

I love this little munchkin! Spending my nights with him after work is what I look forward to all day long!

lets go shopping!

On Monday I had to go shopping after work. Every time I've gone shopping I just take Henry in his carseat, because he is a notorious barfer. I don't really want him to be projectiling vomit all over the store, having to constantly stop and clean it up, and dealing with all that. But on Monday enough time had passed since he had ate that I figured he would be ok, and I brought a little blanket as back-up. So it was Henry's first time being in the grocery cart! At first he was like "what is going on here!?" and was bracing himself against the cart, it was pretty funny. Once he got used to it he really liked it. Henry loves going out to new places and looking around, so from this vantage point it was even better for him. :) He was so cute! And he only threw up twice, and one of them was minor. The other time it got on the floor while we were in line and I didn't even notice it until the lady behind me asked the cashier for a paper towel....oops...!!

Overall, it was a success! Henry loved it. Now if he could only get his barfing under control, it could happen all the time! ;)

The past couple weeks Henry has been getting stronger and stronger. Just this past week he has been obsessed with standing. If you go to set him down on his bum, he just locks his knees so he's standing. He also recently discovered stairs (ah!). And on Monday (August 27) Henry climbed up FIVE stairs!! He hadn't really climbed up any before (maybe 1, with help), just hung out at the bottom and checked them out. So on Monday all of a sudden he just started climbing on up! And he made it up 5 steps before he got a little tired and just kept high-centering himself.

Then yesterday, we saw Henry started pulling himself up into a standing position. I was shocked! I got so excited I texted Josh right away. And then he kept doing it all last night, and it was so cute.

It's both exciting and mildly terrifying that he is growing up so fast! I feel like he just started crawling like 2 days ago, and now he's already pulling himself up, and walking when we hold his hands. So basically...he's a genius ;)

I find myself taking a ton of pictures of Henry when he's eating. I don't know why, except for that he is so darn cute! He is especially cute when he's eating his little Puffs or yogurt melts. He tries to grab as many as he can and shovel them into his mouth. Especially with the yogurt melts (which we just recently started buying), so sometimes I have to place them on his highchair one by one.

In the past month or so we've started giving him chicken pureed in with his veggies, the yogurt melts, and juice. We wanted to get him a lollacup (we saw them on the tv show Shark Tank), but they're out of stock until September. So instead I got him a straw trainer cup thing (we want to go the straw route verses sippy cup route), and he picked up on it right away. Such a little smarty pants :)

8 months old

On Wednesday Henry turned eight months old. Woohoo! My little baby is growing up so fast! In this past month Henry graduated to the big tub, and LOVES it. Bath time is such a treat, and I'm pretty sure it's one of his favorite places. Henry has also learned "the pincer grip", so he can grab his little Puffs in between his thumb and pointer finger and stuff them in his mouth all by himself. It's pretty cute.

He also began crawling. Unfortunately he is still a HUGE barfer, which is kind of problematic in the crawling aspect, because he will no longer stay on a blanket that we plop him down on... Which results in barfy carpet. So we like to keep him in the kitchen area a lot, since its not carpeted. Hopefully he will grow out of the puking stage sooner than later, or we might not have a clean spot of carpet left! He's also obsessed with cords, the trash can, the the fireplace...so basically anything he should stay away from.

In the last month he also got to meet his Uncle BJ, and now they are best friends forever. The last time BJ was in town was when I was still pregnant, so it was great that Henry could finally see his uncle and have such fun times playing with him. We also took family pictures while BJ was here, and of course Henry was adorable in all of them.

Henry is still in love with Jay-Z, who still doesn't really love him back. Jay-Z will stay still and eyeball Henry until he gets a little too close, and then he bolts. But every time Henry sees the cat he starts beaming and/or laughing. Hopefully some day they will become buddies!

Also this past week Henry has started exploring the world above crawling level. He hasn't started pulling himself up yet fully, but he will kind of sit up on his knees and reach for higher levels. Ahhhh! Let's hope he sticks to the ground for at least a little while longer, I feel like he's growing up too fast! ;)
