21 months old...a little late!

So...Henry is 22 months now. But we've been a little busy around here. I'll try and capture his 21st month first, then the next post will be 22 months! Whoops..

Henry is truly my little buddy. So much so that I was really worried for when George would arrive. I would go on daily walks and Henry always behaved so well in his stroller. I'd point out flowers and he would point at helicopters. His vocabulary has been growing almost every day, and his comprehension surprises me all the time. He started saying "truck" and loves to play with trucks and cars. There was a lot of rain during this month, and Henry loved going outside and playing in it. He's definitely a water baby!!

And of course, the pictures:

My mom came into town to help out around the house, and hopefully be present for George's birth. It was great to have her, and of course she spoiled Henry. And it ended up that she was able to be there for George's arrival (yay!).

When George was born, we got help from my mother who was in town, and from our friends Ryan and Natalie (thanks you guys!!). So while I was laboring and soothing a newborn, Henry was having a ball with his friends. When Henry visited George in the hospital he was uninterested to the point of pushing George away. But after we brought George home, Henry warmed right up and loved his new baby.

The weekend after George was born, Mimi and Bear came to visit. They of course brought tons of toys and kept Henry well entertained. He was pretty sad to see them go.

Henry got a new water table from Mimi and Bear :)

Overall, we had a fun month. Before George came I tried to really savor my days with just Henry--since I knew it would be a big adjustment for everyone once the baby came. So we played a lot and had some fun quality time. Once George came home with us, Henry has been very sweet and we are so thankful! He is a great big brother :)

Henry is 20 months old

I'm a few days late writing this, but Henry is 20 months old now! Seriously still amazes me every time I think of how old he is, since two years seems to be approaching pretty quickly! This past month Henry has become extra helpful...he loves being able to help you do things, or accomplish little tasks himself. Which is really quite adorable, and makes me think that he's going to be an awesome big brother! He likes to throw trash away for you, close doors and cabinets, carry groceries for you, unload the dishwasher, etc etc. Every time he goes to one of my doctors appointments with me he will walk around the office and close all the doors.

I've also realized just how mechanically-minded he is this past month. I've always known he has been, but it's fun to see how fast he learns and how he loves to figure out new concepts. Lately he has been really into buckles, and likes to be able to buckle himself into his highchair/carseat (I usually let him do one strap and then help with the rest). He also thinks he knows how to operate the tv, and will often try to turn on Elmo himself. And yes, his obsession with Elmo (particularly Elmo the Musical) is still going strong. The other day we were walking around the store and found a small stuffed Elmo... it was the cutest thing ever!! He kept hugging him and kissing him for the entire rest of the morning.

We are still working on manners, and enforcing please and thank you, but it's coming along a bit slower than I'd like. Any advice? He has a pretty great vocabulary, and knows new words all the time. And I know that he knows what please and thank you mean... he's just a little stinker about actually using them.

Here's the usual picture explosion:

we finally got a baby pool. Henry loves it.

Henry tried chocolate milk for the first time. Huge success.

We got Henry his first coloring book: Elmo of course!

Henry and I checked out a local donut shop. It was delish.

we found some street art.

Henry gets entranced when watching Elmo...

We love you Henry! I am really trying to cherish the rest of the time I have with just Henry before another kiddo gets thrown into the mix. This boy is so cute though, and so sweet. I just know he'll be a great big brother (and if he isn't, we'll just make him sleep in the cat bed ;).

16 months

On Monday Henry turned 16 months old. As I say every month, I seriously can't believe how much time has gone by. He's so old now! Ahh! Henry has seemed to grow up so much this past month. His cognitive skills and speech have increased so much! He is such a smart kid, he constantly amazes me.

He knows how to say eyes, mouth (it sounds more like "mou"), and nose--and knows where each one is. He can say lots of words, he can't really say sentences except "Hi Kitty!!" which he says every day, gleefully. He loves that cat, it's hilarious.

"ROAR!"

yesterday, i nabbed him with a kiss

his favorite foods are still lasagna and tortellini

we went to the park on Sunday

I love this kid SO MUCH!! He's learned how to give kisses, but you have to ask him and he will only sometimes give them to you. I think half the time he forgets what it means, or he just doesn't want to bother haha. It just makes it that much sweeter when he does kiss you ♥ He's really good about hugging, and also knows to wave and say "hi", "bye", or "nigh' nigh'" correctly. Yup, he's a genious. Cutest kid in the world?! Obviously.

15 months old!

Henry is 15 months old today. Whoo hoo! Henry is seriously like a real kid now. I mean, obviously he's a kid, but he seems so grown up! He's walking, talking, eating whatever he wants, climbing up stuff on the playground, etc. It amazes me when he'll do something new and I realize just how much he is learning and growing. One thing he's been doing for a while is calling for us when we aren't around. As in, Josh will be at work and Henry will look around and ask "Daddy? Daddy?", or if I go out on an errand or something, he'll keep going to the door and ask "Mama? Mama?" I think it's pretty adorable.

In the past month or so he realized what "uh oh" means, and uses it whenever he drops anything. And I use the word "drop" freely... he's developed a bit of a brattitude sometimes, and will throw/drop his food off his tray on purpose when he doesn't want it anymore. I have a little video to showcase all of these aspects ;) haha

Henry has added a lot of words to his vocabulary. He can say kitty, doggy, shoes, uh oh, ha ha, thank you, mommy, daddy, no, yeah, yay, aww, hi, and probably other stuff too that I can't remember. I swear he says new words all the time.

"what you lookin at?"
i started making him green smoothies. he loves them, and actually eats his veggies/fruits!

"i run pizza factory! hood for life!"

This month we've also started taking Mommy & Me swimming classes. It is so much fun, and he loves splashing around and looking at all the other people at the pool.

before our first class. duck face!

look at his little swim suit!
Seriously, he's such a stud. Being at home with this little man during the day (even though I have to work) is so awesome. He is so cute and affectionate, and full of energy. I love when I get all my work done and we can just hang out or go to the playground. I love this kid!!

Henry's walking!!

You know how yesterday I said Henry wasn't walking yet? Apparently I just have to publicly state he isn't doing something, so he'll start doing it! Today after we got home he was cruising along furniture and just doing laps around the room. Then we noticed him take about 6 steps without holding on to anything. We were pretty amazed. After that, it was natural to him! Here are a couple videos I managed to take (although even since we filmed these he's been walking longer distances by himself!):

Disclaimer (in case you have your sound on): I was watching Henry by the fireplace!

Way to go buddy!! We have a walking little boy on our hands!

first birthday!

Happy birthday Henry! On Saturday little Henny Benny turned one. It was such a fun time, I love this little kid! We had some family over for a little party Saturday night.

One of Henry's favorite foods, lasagna!

Henry didn't know quite what to do when we started singing Happy Birthday...

...so he started crying

Then he realized it was going to be ok, and cheered up a little

Once he had a little taste of it, he went crazy! Cupcake delight!!!

Cupcakes were enjoyed by everyone :)
Present from Mok and Pok! He loves it :) Thanks!

11 months old

Henry turned eleven months old today. AKA HE'S ALMOST A YEAR OLD!!!! Good grief!!

In the past month, Henry had his first Halloween! He was a sock monkey. We even went trick-or-treating with cutie patootie Mona Jean. Henry had a lot of fun going around the neighborhood.

first taste of candy!
Henry also took his first airplane ride and went to Ohiooooo! Somewhat related to Ohio, Henry also voted in his first presidential election! Just kidding, but he did go with me when I voted :)

Obama!!!
Henry also got his first ever haircut. He looks like such a stud muffin, and also more like a toddler. Which is sort of frightening to me, since I just want him to stay a tiny baby forever!

he was very squirmy, so we had to distract him
Henry also stopped nursing, and only has formula now.And he's still alive, so that's promising... ;)

rub a dub dub

Happy 11 months old!

And of course, theres been lots of general mayhem, mischief, and delight. This little boy is so adventurous, determined, and funny. He makes me laugh all the time. He can also be very stubborn...which I suppose is just payback for his semi-secretly stubborn parents ;)

It's been a great month, and I seriously can't believe that Henry is almost a year old. Love you kiddo!!
